As the use of smartphones and tablets for accessing the internet increases, it is important for businesses to consider the mobile user experience they offer to their customers.
A well-designed mobile UX can help a company attract and retain customers, leading to long-term success for both the business and its users. On the other hand, a poor mobile experience may drive customers away and negatively impact a company's product. Investing in a top-notch mobile UX is crucial for businesses to succeed in today's digital landscape.

I asked
for some UX design tips, he's a User Interface Designer at Paymongo and an expert at UI and UX, I've worked with him in the past, and very great at his craft. Luckily he agrees to share some tips on how you can provide a great user experience for your mobile apps enjoy! Why UX is important
🤖 Me: Can you tell the audience why UX is important for mobile apps?
🙍🏻♂️ Ericson: UX (user experience) is critical for mobile apps as a UI designer because it determines how easy or difficult it is for users to interact with and navigate through an app. Users will become frustrated and stop using the app if the UX is poor. On the other hand, if the UX is excellent, users will enjoy using the app and are more likely to continue using it and recommending it to others.
Some of the reasons why UX is important for mobile apps are as follows:
User-friendliness
A good UX makes it simple for users to find what they're looking for and perform actions within the app.
User Engagement
By providing a smooth and enjoyable experience, a well-designed UX can help keep users engaged with an app.
Retention
Users are less likely to continue using an app if they find it difficult to use. A good user experience can help increase retention by making the app enjoyable to use.
Brand image
A poor user experience can harm a company's brand image and reputation, whereas a great user experience can help to improve it.
What makes a great UX
🤖 Me: What makes a great UX?
🙍🏻♂️ Ericson: For me, there are numerous factors that contribute to a positive user experience in a mobile app (user experience). As a UI designer, I believe the following are important aspects of a great user experience, but this is just my opinion based on my own experience.
Here's a rundown of what makes a great user experience:
Usability
A great user experience is simple to use and comprehend. It should be simple to use and give the user clear instructions.
Accessibility
A great user experience should be accessible to users with disabilities, allowing as many people as possible to use the app.
Functionality
A great user experience should provide users with the functions and features they require in an efficient and effective manner.
Responsiveness
A great user experience should be adaptable to different devices and screen sizes in order to provide the best experience for all users.
Aesthetics
An app with a visually appealing design can improve the user experience and make it more enjoyable.
Examples
🤖 Me: Do you have favorite mobile apps or anything in mind that executed a great UX?
🙍🏻♂️ Ericson: One of my favorite apps is "Duolingo," a language learning app based on user reviews. The app's colorful and gamified design makes it enjoyable to use, and clear goals and progress tracking help users stay motivated. The app also adjusts to the user's learning pace, resulting in a more personalized experience. You can check some of the screens here but there are a lot of mobile apps now that executed a great UX like BeReal, Headspace, and Tinder.
Advice for a good UX design
🤖 Me: Any advice for a good UX design?
🙍🏻♂️ Ericson: As a UI designer, I would suggest the following guidelines for creating a good user experience:
Understanding your users is one of my top priorities. It is critical to comprehend their needs, goals, and behaviors. Conducting user research and collecting feedback can help you make informed design decisions.
Test and iterate as much as possible. It is critical to test your designs with real users in order to collect feedback and identify any problems. Make use of this feedback to iterate and improve the user experience.
Keep it simple as much as possible. A good user experience is simple and intuitive. Avoid cluttered layouts and extraneous features in favor of a simple and straightforward design.
Prioritize the user's workflow. Take into account the user's goals as well as the tasks they must complete within the app. Organize the app's features and functionality around the user's workflow to make it simple for them to achieve their goals.
Use familiar design patterns and interaction. When using an app, users feel more at ease and in control. To reduce the learning curve for users, consider using familiar patterns such as a hamburger navigation menu.
Think of it this way…
A mobile user experience can be compared to a smooth and enjoyable ride in a luxury car. Just as a luxury car is designed with the driver in mind and has intuitive controls, a good mobile user experience is designed with the user in mind and has a user-friendly interface. Both a luxury car and a well-designed mobile app provide a seamless experience, making it easy for the user to navigate and achieve their desired outcome.
Conclusion
There you have it, as you can see UX is essential in the development of a successful mobile product. By understanding and addressing the unique needs and preferences of mobile users, businesses can create user-centric products that meet customer needs and drive growth. A great product strategy and a good UX strategy can help companies to stay ahead of the competition and build a loyal customer base.
